A generation of taxpayers has left Portugal

airplane2Emigration figures reveal 285,000 Portuguese have left the country for good in the last four years: a further concern is that immigration has decreased.

Portugal’s Centre for Emigration reported today that "Over the past four years, the number of people who have left Portugal grew by over 50%. Only in 2013 at least 110,000 Portuguese emigrated. You have to go back to 1973 to find numbers like these."

Expat pensioner policy not shown to save money

But the government has not demonstrated that the programme has saved the promised millions.

Gold bar fractions open for trade

goldChunks of gold have gone on sale in the UK. The Royal Mint is making fractions of gold bars available to the public for as little as £20.

It is the first time that the Mint has made gold available by price rather than fixed weight which will grant entree to more individual investors.

Police assault BES protestors

BES protestors first went to Novo Banco’s office in Avenida da Liberdade, the the Socialsist Party headquarters in Rato and then to the prime minister’s official residence in São Bento.
