GNR close in on Mourão cat burners

fireThe local GNR already has a list of crowd members who witnessed the Mourão cat burning incident. The culprits will be found.

The District of Bragança GNR Command said today that its officers are continuing in their efforts to identify from the list those responsible for the Saint John's day ‘traditional’ cat burning incident.

The culprits will be interviewed with a view to prosecution using Portugal’s new animal protection laws.

Quinta da Rocha development rejected by Portimão council

The council executive voted "immediately to suspend the current proposal" from Butwell to the delight of eco-organisations and members of the public who have campaigned for years against the destruction of the natural riverside habitat by companies controlled by Aprígio Santos (pictured), millionaire property developer, football club owner and eco-vandal.

New Lagos road at last opens

The president of the Trade and Services Association of the Algarve Region (ACRAL) contests the size of the 40 hectare project and the environmental impact study paid for and presented by IKEA, as he considers the construction of the commercial complex “affects the Algarve.”

Britain’s consumers appear ready to spend

Former minister loses parliamentary immunity in Golden Visa probe

macedoThe former Minister of Internal Affairs, Miguel Macedo, the one who resigned over the Golden Visa affair and went back to being an MP, heard today that his parliamentary immunity has been lifted and he can be heard as a defendant in the ongoing case.

The parliamentary committee for ethics decided in a special meeting that Macedo’s parliamentary immunity should be lifted even though he resigned, has not yet been sought as an arguido, and claims to have had nothing to do with the Golden Visa scandal which saw the arrest of 11 suspects.

Finance firms struggle to find skilled staff
