Portimão - buried Briton had suffered a violent attack

justiceWith the British expat Nigel Jackson held on charges of murdering his partner and burying her under concrete in their garden, the secrecy surrounding the case is close to zero.

Variously described as a golf lover, former taxi driver and odd job man, Jackson’s story that Brenda Davidson committed suicide failed to impress police who soon discovered that Davidson’s neck had suffered severe and violent wounds, evident when she was unwrapped from the plastic sheeting in which she had been buried.

Members of the small community near Alcalar, Portimão where the British couple had lived for ten years, were quoted in the press and on national TV today commenting at their shock at recent events as Jackson has not only claimed his partner was in the UK receiving medical treatment but also he appears to have moved a girlfriend into the property last December.

The local woman is variously described in the press today as 30 and later as 40-years old and has a child living with her. She also is ‘helping police with their inquiries.’

Brenda Davidson had been missing since the end of November 2014 and it was a son living in the UK who told the British authorities that she was nowhere to be found.

Concerns as to Brenda’s wellbeing were registered with Interpol and the Portuguese Judicial Police who then pulled Jackson in for questioning.

Realising the game was up, Jackson led police to the grave which was under some concrete and rubble made to look like the end of a path near their swimming pool.

Jackson’s story that Brenda Davidson has committed suicide was found to be implausible as the wounds suffered by his partner were consistent with a violent attack.

What appears to be truthful is that Jackson buried her in their garden and for reasons best left for a psychologist to fathom out, thought that her absence could be explained away by saying she was in the UK.

The fact that Brenda Davidson had four children who might want to know her whereabouts must have been rather inconvenient.

Jackson has been remanded in custody in jail and the British Embassy in Lisbon commenetd,  “We can confirm the case of a British national reported as missing in the Algarve, Portugal since December 2014. We are providing the family with consular assistance.”
