Caramujeira, Lagoa - 28-year-old Brit cuts his mother's throat

A 28-year-old British man, said to be suffering from manic depression, has cut his mother’s throat at the luxury villa in Caramujeira, Lagoa, where they both had lived for 18 years.

Neighbours were alerted by the man’s strange behaviour, went to the villa and found the woman dead, lying on the terrace.

The GNR had been called earlier after a domestic argument at the villa but left after things had settled down.

The 68-year-old mother, referred to only as Christine, was killed with a single wound to her throat.

The first altercation started after the son had decided it was a good day to light the fire, an opinion his mother did not share as it was nearly 40°C outside.

After killing his mother, Louis went to the neighbours and asked for some water. Alerted by his strange behaviour, they went next door and found the body.

Louis was calm and waited quietly until the arrival of the authorities.
