Top Tourists Attractions to Visit When in Poland

Main Market Square KrakowPoland is one of the most exciting European counties to visit if you are a tourist. The country offers a lot of attractions, mostly historical in nature.
Also, if you stay at lavish hotels, you can visit Polish casinos to enjoy the atmosphere and compare the experience.

Poland has breathtaking museums, great bars for nightlife, and excellent restaurants that offer various cuisines.
Today, we’ll look into the best places that you must definitely visit when in Poland.

Main Market Square

The first place you should visit is the Main Market Square in Krakow. It is the largest market in Europe that has existed since the Medieval period. The city has become modern,  and yet the buildings that have been there for hundreds of years are still magnificently preserved.

Here are some things you can expect:

  • Cloth Hall – it is a shopping center with many stalls and stores. This market emits an aura of the Renaissance.
  • Mary’s Basilica – it is a 14th-century Catholic temple; there are two towers beside it.
  • Town Hall Tower – it is a 70-meter-tall town hall that has an observation deck. The top gives you a panoramic view of Krakow.

The Main Market Square has been around since the 13th century. The market occupies 40,000 square feet of cafes, bars, clubs, museums, and souvenir shops. It is where you will find ancient architecture. The market offers many types of activities that you can enjoy while in the city.

The Royal Castle in Warsaw

This old castle is now a museum, and it used to be the formal residence of royal blood, particularly the monarchs of old Poland. It is where you will find the personal offices of ancient kings.

The castle itself sits on Castle Square, where you will find your way to the Warsaw Old Town. The Royal Castle, being a museum now, also offers old Polish and other European art. It was in this castle that the Constitution of 3 May 1791 was drafted.

Wieliczka Salt Mine

This Salt Mine is a UNESCO heritage. Specifically, it was a royal salt mine that was full of secrets and legends. You can stroll underground, and it will enlighten you as to how people mined salt in the 13th century.

The salt mine is popular because it sits on the geological rock salt of southern Poland. The mine was active from the 13th to the 20th century. You will find min-churches inside the mine, and it is a good idea to allow at least three hours for this visit.

Gdansk

This place is a port city on the Baltic coast of the country. It is where you will find Main Town and Long Market — popular places that were reconstructed after World War 2.

Here are the things you can do in this city:

  • Visit the Neptune Fountain.
  • Buy amber or ossified resin.
  • Visit the St. Mary Assumption Basilica.
  • Shop at the Long Market.
  • See the historical bells used for opening pubs.

VISTULA RIVER BEACHGdansk is an important place as it started World War 2. It was here where the Nazis made their first shots. The Polish army was able to hold the city for only a week until it fell into the Nazi regime.

Palace of Culture & Science

This tourist spot is a tall building constructed in 1955. People call it the PKiN. The height is 778 feet, and it is the 6th tallest building in the EU. It is where you will find cinemas, theaters, and libraries. It was in 2007 when this building was enlisted in the Registry of Objects of Cultural Heritage.

Once you get to the top, you will have a bird’s eye view of Warsaw City. There are cafes and shops in the building, which means you can also do your shopping there. This building usually hosts many events. If you are lucky, you may get a chance to see some dignitaries or celebrities.

Vistula River Beach

The last place on our list is a body of water, which is a good place to relax if you are in Warsaw. National Geographic recognizes it as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

The time of the year when it is most crowded is July and August. You can play badminton or rent equipment to explore the body of water. What makes the Vistula different is that it is unusual. The sand is soft, and it is a river – not a sea.

Poland has a rich history, especially if you are looking for relics and the Second World War. The country is known for its success after the communist era, and it is one of the countries that emerged victorious against tyranny. Visit Poland if you are looking for a vibrant culture and exquisite food. The country offers a lot of opportunities for viewing unique landscapes, beaches, and mountains.
