Winter has truly set in, and with some parts of the world already dealing with their first snows of the season, we felt it'd be a great time to let you know how things work in sunnier climes! Many people will associate the Algarve with the long summer days and temperatures sitting around 30°C, and quite rightly so. However, the winter climate here also has its charms, especially around the holiday season. During the day you can still stroll along the beaches and promenades under a warm winter sun, and enjoy eating lunch on the terrace.
The evenings offer a different kind of magic, venturing into town to see the festive lights and decorations with the aroma of fresh roasted chestnuts is an experience that many tourists may never consider! If daring you can take a dip in your pool or hot tub, and keep the chill off in front of an open fire while unwinding over a glass or two with your significant other, this tends to be a popular choice.
Some of our existing clients opted for the best of both worlds, by purchasing a property which they will use personally in the mild and quieter seasons, and then renting it out through the Summer to gain from a return on their real estate investment here in Portugal. It's no wonder there are already so many owners of second homes here on the Algarve. Major airlines operate regularly in Winter months with flights often at a £50 price range (or less!). Meaning a 2 hour hop over for long weekends, or even staying for a short holiday can be very affordable and practical. Algarve summers may have their fame, but winters are also lovely and we recommend you visit and see for yourself the benefits of having a home in southern Portugal year round! We have hand-picked a variety of properties all with lovely hearths which are the perfect setting for enjoying both the sunny and cozy sides of the Algarve.
