Access to Lagoa’s Pintadinho beach cut off by landowner

pintadinhobeachOne of the Algarve’s best loved family beaches has been cut off to drivers wishing to use the car park down by the beach restaurant.

In a report in Sul Informaçao today, the chaos caused by the landowner is somewhat mitigated by his involvement in a 20 year court case with the council - a case that was set to carry on for decades unless action was taken to highlight the situation and get some action.

Germany now expects to help 800,000 refugees

refugeesThe German state now estimates it will take in 800,000 refugees this year, a whopping increase from its original January forecast of 300,000.

If that many people are accepted, it will be four times the number which was given protection last year in Germany.

The working group unanimously disapproved with the head of the blood service’s earlier calls for using homosexual behaviour per se as a basis for refusing blood donations and, with conditions, represents the end of a ban that had perturbed campaigners.
