Portugal's 'Green tax' rebates to benefit only companies and the better off

olivetreeThe Minister for Environment, Moreira da Silva continued today to claim that money raised from the new "green taxes" included in the 2015 State Budget will help all of our futures by the allocation of tax credits to businesses to encourage "energy efficiency."

"Fiscal neutrality must be achieved every year and in future the strategy of recycling the revenue from green taxes should contribute not only to income tax relief for families, but also for the allocation of tax credits to companies for investments in energy efficiency," argued the minister.

No fuel at Petrofer filling stations - workers not paid for 2 months

PETROFEREmployees of the Algarve's largest independent filling station company 'Petrofer' today demanded that the management pay their wage arrears, a situation that is now affecting the majority of the company's 54 employees who are at least 2 months behind in receiving their pay packets.

Cátia Morais, of the Trade Union committee dealing with Petrofer said that her workers have grievances including the absence of any fuel to sell, and the absence of any stock in the retail units at the Algarve’s 14 filling stations.

Unemployment dropping steadily in Portugal

The rate means that there were 702,000 people in Portugal without work, down from 728,000 last September, according to government figures.

Portugal's towns with historic centres need swifter project approval
