Portuguese go car crazy – on credit

mercedesHaving learned zero restraint from the years of boom and bust, Portuguese drivers went credit crazy last year with €1.1 billion advanced by normally tight-fisted banks to customers wanting to buy new cars.

Car loans from January to November 2014 was the only credit segment in the country to show any real signs of growth, according to data released today by the Bank of Portugal.

Portugal's judges have 'less than three hours to judge'

justiceA study into the snail-like pace of Portuguese justice shows that many family and juvenile courts are taking less than three hours to analyze and decide each outcome, including the time taken to hear the case.

The study by the Portuguese Association for Parental Equality and Law of Children is based on data from the Ministry of Justice and the Supreme Judicial Council and looked at the number of cases per judge and  the average times for each decision.

Only one type of maize, MON 810, is currently allowed to be grown commercially in the EU although some countries ban it.

Portimão-Bragança air link support payments published

Next year the budgeted subsidy for the Bragança-Portimão service is €2.6 million and in 2018 the figure is €1.95 million, all excluding VAT.
