More cheap French train travel destinations

tgvBudget train travel in France will be extended with the addition of new destinations in 2016.

The country’s low-cost Ouigo service offers tickets from as little as €10.

Ouigo, in operation since 2013, was designed to emulate budget airlines while its fleet of trains run TGV style.

The service initially connected Paris and the south of the country, stopping at Lyon, Marseille and Montpellier.

From next year, new stations in the north and west will be joined to the network. From Tourcoing and Haute-Picardie near Amiens in the north, it will be possible to reach the western cities of Nantes, Rennes, Le Mans and Angers.

Charles de Gaulle airport will also be linked in.

Budget carrier Ouigo sells 400,000 tickets every year for just €10, then another million go on sale for €25. Prices go up to a maximum of €85.
