Where do I begin? A fabulous turnout, 137 guests attended the afpop East Algarve Annual Full Moon Summer Ball / Party Night at the Faro Catering College. Everyone wined and dined under the light of the moon, and then had a great view of the lunar eclipse and the Blood Moon… which we won’t see again this century.
Rotary Club Estoi Palace International (RCEPI) is very proud to be involved in the acquisition of a vehicle that will provide mobile screening for lung and skin cancer throughout the Algarve.
This is the first step in a new campaign launched by the Algarve Oncology (AOA) Association “Move-tePelaVida.Algarve” (MoveForYouLife.Algarve). Its purpose is designed to engage with the Algarve population by taking the health services directly to them. This is the way forward to reach a larger number of people and, more importantly, reach those who struggle to access “normal” health services, and to reduce the disparity in social classes accessing health care.

On Tuesday 19th June, Commander Vitor Rio of the Lagoa Bombeiros was presented with a donation of a 1,000 euro from the St.Patrick's Society.
The cheque was handed over by the society's membership secretary, Teresa Ferreira, and the chairman, Damien Clarke.
The Society is always on the look-out for new members (any nationality!) to take part in the various events during the year.

The ladies of Pinheiros Altos Clube de Golfe turned out in force to watch a fashion show staged by Marité Stabile of the prestigious La Dolce Vita store in Almancil, and some strutted their stuff modelling the latest looks before a highly enthusiastic audience.
The 4th annual successful White Night, Branco Ao Jantar, was organised by the Rotary Clubs of Estoi Palace International and Olhao together with the Alliance Francaise Algarve. 230 people, attended the event held on Saturday 9th June, in the courtyard of a former 17th century convent that is now the Faro Catering College.
In the sparkling new £2m clubhouse, the result of seven months’ re-design and refurbishment, Jorge Oliveira, the General Manager of the prestigious Four Seasons resort, presented ACCA’s Gwenda Daud with a huge cheque which will benefit the many projects the children’s charity is involved in. This generous donation has become something of a tradition– one that is welcomed and appreciated.
ACCA is shortly to launch its vital Back To School project, which helps ensure that needy youngsters across the Algarve have the essential equipment that to start the new school year with pride… and ease.
The Beatles famously sang “Money Can’t Buy Me Love” - but it CAN buy vital equipment for the Bombeiros.
And west coast community association AMOVATE enlisted the aid of The Bottles, the Algarve’s Beatles tribute band, to help raise just over €3,000 for the fire fighters of Aljezur.
It was anything but “A Hard Day’s Night” as more than 200 people - local residents and Day Trippers - twisted, shouted and danced through the evening, hosted by the Restaurante Fonte do Vale, which also donated €500 to the final total.
