Faro animal rights march highlights plight of abandoned pets

dogStarvedA march In Faro, for the rights of animals to be upheld, blamed the government for the current situation of municipal kennels that are brimming with stressed dogs and the problems caused by the delay in implementing the new companion animal law that, from this October, aims to prevent the slaughter of healthy animals.

Over 100 animal lovers took part in the march across the city last Saturday, calling for councils to do their job in providing proper kennel facilities for a predictable increase in animals due to the animal friendly law passed in 2105 but not yet in effect.

Lack of volunteers forces closure of Re-food Algoz-Tunes

RefoodWe are sad to announce the official temporary closure of our activities. Unfortunately, the lack of volunteers and administrative difficulties prevent us from continuing to serve the community of Re-food Algoz-Tunes over the next few months, as the current members are no longer able to safeguard the responsibilities of social mobilization, and there are no more people available to take on the volunteering and management responsibilities. We have learned that a Re-food centre needs more volunteers than those we could find in our local community.

New Mobile Health Unit for Algarve Oncology Association

New Mobile Health Unit for Algarve Oncology AssociationRotary Club Estoi Palace International (RCEPI) is very proud to be involved in the acquisition of a vehicle that will provide mobile screening for lung and skin cancer throughout the Algarve.

This is the first step in a new campaign launched by the Algarve Oncology (AOA) Association “Move-tePelaVida.Algarve” (MoveForYouLife.Algarve). Its purpose is designed to engage with the Algarve population by taking the health services directly to them. This is the way forward to reach a larger number of people and, more importantly, reach those who struggle to access “normal” health services, and to reduce the disparity in social classes accessing health care.
