The II VilaNova Chamber Music Festival will take place in Monchique on November 3, 4, and 5, 2023, at the Main Church - Igreja Matriz, with free admission. This event brings together classical music enthusiasts, both performers and listeners.
Monchique is home to highly skilled musicians, particularly pianists and cellists, who aim to share their expertise with the local community and cultivate an appreciation for this genre of music, in collaboration with other artists from the Algarve.
For the Festival's opening, compositions by Monchique's own composers will be featured, an unusual occurrence in events of this kind.
In the inaugural edition in 2022, more than 1000 participants enjoyed the experience across three different locations in the village, providing a quality musical experience for residents and visitors alike.
There will also be an open-stage musical afternoon for anyone interested in participating, whether they are amateurs, students, or professionals. Participants can play any instrument, as long as they perform a classical piece. Open-Stage Musical Afternoon Artists: All those interested, whether amateurs, students, or professionals, can perform on any instrument, as long as they present a classical piece.
The organization is provided by the Monchique Parish Council, with the support of the Municipality and the Parish. Artistic direction is in the hands of Svetlana Bakushina.
