Sustainable energy start-up funding for Portugal and Spain

pvCleantech Camp is the programme to accelerate and boost startups related to sustainable energy in Spain and Portugal.  The programme aims at promoting the technology transfer and the entrepreneurship in the the field of clean energy.

The three selected proposals with the biggest potential in the global market will receive an economic contribution and the support to accelerate their business development, an assessment process valued at more than €50,000.

WebInnoEnergy, Gas Natural Fenosa, Barcelona Activa and the Municipal Chamber from Lisboa, just launched the second edition of the Cleantech Camp, which will be open until 26 March 2017.

The call is for university students, professors, doctoral candidates, researchers and entrepreneurs who want to create a commercially viable business in the field of sustainable energy or for the ones that have already taken the first steps to start their own business.

This year, Cleantech Camp lands for the first time in Lisbon, broadening its scope to the whole Iberian Peninsula. This is also the first year that Gas Natural Fenosa joins the programme as a main partner.

Thi multinational energy company is looking for innovative solutions within the following challenges: wind park monitoring and complementary system services for renewable energy, IoT for energy management, distributed generation and self-supply, smart solutions for end-users.

From all the proposals, a maximum of 15 projects will be selected, according to the following topics:

    IoT energy.
    Energy efficiency.
    Smart cities.
    Renewable energies.
    Sustainable mobility.
    Smart grids.

Josep-Miquel Torregrosa, Business Creation Officer of InnoEnergy Iberia, said: “After more than five years investing and supporting new companies in the clean technologies sector, we have used our expertise to concentrate our knowledge and know-how that we consider to be essential for any entrepreneur who wants to create a startup and to launch an innovative product or service to the market.”

Mónica Puente, Director of Technological Innovation from Gas Natural Fenosa commented, “Cleantech Camp is an interesting initiative with a great potential to put value on ideas and projects of the research groups of this country. The programme is conformed by high-standard professionals and in Gas Natural Fenosa, we believe that they can help us develop initiatives which can contribute to benefit our clients and in the promotion of clean energies.”

During the programme, formative sessions and corporate management workshops will be held, so as to assess the company plan and validate the business idea in the market.

At the same time, two networking events in Barcelona and Lisbon will allow the participants to enhance the contact network and synergies with professionals from the sector.

The programme will feature high standard professionals such as Carlos Da Silva, director of the Founder Institute Lisbon & Executive Professor at HEG Switzerland and Oscar Torres, director of the programme B2B Management from ESADE. All the trainers and mentors are included  on the programme´s website.

Finally the candidates can be part of the investment programme of InnoEnergy.

The best three proposed business plans will gain awards. The winner will receive €20,000 and the first and second finalists will receive €10,000 and €5,000 respectively.

They will also receive support for the growth and consolidation of the project with non-monetary contributions, valued at €15,000.

The contributions will be held by the knowledge partners of the programme: Impulse 2 Grow, Osborne Clarke, VdA –Vierira de Almeida and ZBM Patents, who will be at the final event of the programme as members of the jury on 29 Juny.
