Four aircraft have been helping to battle a fire that broke out this afternoon, June 17, at Monte das Mestras, Almodôvar.
The Beja District Relief Operations Command confirmed that the fire remained active at 5pm this afternoon, June 17th.
The fire is in an area of scrubland and is proving hard to control despite 67 firemen on site with 19 vehicles.
A fire alert was acted on in the Montes de Cima area, Portimão, this afternoon with 24 firefighters in attendance.
A fire was dealt with in Olhão early this afternoon and another one, this fire being in the Moncarapacho and Fuseta eara, stretching emergency services.
Meanwhile, another fire was extinguished at 14:05, in the Lagoa area. 22 firefighters and one helicopter, tackled the blaze.

I have enjoyed this notion. Since the Rhine flows in a northerly direction (north north westerly would be more accurate), Hendrickson must mean those who come from a point to the north of the mouth (the most northerly point) of the river.

The authorities are aware of those who deliberately make these fires year upon year BUT The lucrative contracts handed out to the private sector together with little or No support from the PULP INDUSTRY lead me to conclude it is just business as usual..
