Career talks at Poet Emiliano da Costa School

Career talks at Poet Emiliano da Costa SchoolRC Estoi Palace International members returned to the Poet Emiliano da Costa School on Tuesday 28th February to enjoy a lunch prepared and served by the students. Last year members visited the school for lunch and donated 600 euros to purchase an oven to assist the students with their food preparation. This year after another superb 3 course lunch prepared using the new oven, the Club was delighted to donate another 400 euros to purchase a microwave for the students and fund a Study Trip.

President Elect Bruno Costa with fellow Rotarians Jim Ditheridge and Vitor Rosao plus staff and pupils from Poet Emiliano da Costa School,Estoi. The Club has a close relationship with the school, distributing dictionaries annually to 5th year students. On March 7th, for the 4th year running RCEPI awarded Diplomas of Merit to their best students. This initiative began after discussions with Professor Cidália Teixeira, the school Librarian on how to reward students who performed outstandingly. This year the certificates were presented by Bruno Costa, President Elect of RCEPI and Francisco Soares, Director of the Grouping of Schools Pinheiro e Rosa. As in previous years the 3 best students per year (5th to 9th) were chosen. In addition this year a USB of 16GB was also given to the best student from each year. Both Bruno Costa and Francisco Soares gave speeches recognising and encouraging these brilliant students.

On the same day, the Club had also organised a series of career talks for the students. Subjects covered included Civil and Acoustic Engineering, teaching, and music. A student that the Club is sponsoring through Faro University also came to talk about her course in prosthetics and demonstrated some of the equipment used to help amputees. RC Estoi Palace International and the Poet Emiliano da Costa School are very grateful to the excellent presentations given by the professionals who gave up their time to come along and talk to the students.
