EuroMillions ticket price rise obscured by inclusion of new game

euromillionsA EuroMillions ticket in Portugal will cost more from September 1st as a new game, Totosorteio, is being tagged on.

The Council of Ministers statement states that the imposition Totosorteio is intended to combat illegal games not run by Portugal’s official lottery franchisee, Santa Casa da Misericordia.

Entry into Totosorteio is just 30 cents but the total ticket price will be €2.50 as the EuroMillions €2 ticket is increasing in price by 20 cents at the same time.

The Council’s statement added that "the net results of these bets is for the purposes of the public interest," and that there will be "more and bigger prizes.”

This new game will guarantee a prize of one million euros each week from tickets purchased in Portugal.

Quoting Chip:
So the Council of Ministers think that gambling is in the "public interest".
Only if it is run by a church charity monopoly.

The trick to enjoying your lottery ticket is to not check the number.
Unchecked, the ticket is filled with optimism and hope.
After checking, it's worthless and depressing.

Just keep it on a shelf or table where you can look at it while imagining happy things.
