Adoption legislation for same sex couples

The Left Bloc today presented two bills to Parliament to end the "unacceptable situation" that same-sex couples can not adopt children.
Portugal is the only country in the world that allows same-sex marriage yet prohibits the adoption of children by such couples, stressed ,. It is time to "put an end to this unacceptable discrimination" "in the interest of children."
The Left Bloc is asking for "an amendment to the Code of Civil Registration," regarding artificial insemination, adoption and same-sex couples."
Honório hopes for a majority vote in Parliament next Friday, when the two bills are discussed and voted upon, "preserving this discrimination will be on the heads of members who vote against this initiative." And she warned, "we will continue discussions today and on Friday and take as much time as needed to end this unacceptable discrimination."
